01 Sep Making a Difference: The Talent Group’s Katie Heads off to Volunteer in Ghana

We are all very excited and a little sad to say goodbye to our very own Project Consultant Kate Wilcock as she heads off to Ghana for a month to help in the poorer areas of the country.  Don’t worry she will be back but only after her once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Following from a recent trip to Thailand a few years ago, Katie was overwhelmed by the desperate need in some of the more run-down areas for help and support from others.   Keen to help further, on her return she considered what else she could get her teeth into and found out about Original Volunteers.

Original Volunteers are the UK’s leading independent volunteering specialist. Every year they send volunteers abroad to more than 100 projects across 20 countries. Their placements are ethical, flexible, worthwhile and really do make an enormous difference to many communities across the world.  They provide safe, well-organised and brilliant value volunteering projects from Thailand to Ecuador, Morocco to Malawi, their vast number of volunteering destinations ensures that there’s something for everyone!

Original Volunteers is passionate about getting help to the people and animals that need it most, and to bring about change using just a smile, hard work, and a bit of common sense.

They helped her get everything ready to travel to Accra in Ghana in just a few days.  When she is there, her work will be varied, exciting and most of all will have an impact on the communities that she’ll be visiting.  She’ll be helping the poorest children through playing with them, working with them and teaching them.  She will also get involved with health, building, conservation, teaching, play, work and other sports.

We couldn’t be prouder of Katie and what she is embarking on and we wish her so much love and luck.  Stay tuned to our Linked In pages where we will be posting regular updates on what she is getting up to!
